Meet The Owner
Barbara Brock
Barbara Brock has at her roots a sense of “organizing”. As the founder and President of “A Proper Place” which launched in 2001, she focused on professional organizing. During this time, she created products based on organizing – the first product being an addressing system and note taking which was a pre-cursor to the Palm pilot, which she sold to the “At-A-Glance” company.
Given her background in interior design, she morphed into Home Staging in 2003. Not least among her accolades was the celebrated Barbara Corcoran — founder of Corcoran Group Real Estate — who became a champion of a proper place both for its staging expertise and, more so, for that rare combination of courtesy, graciousness and flexibility accorded APP clients, which Brock mandates as corporate policy.
Going back to her love of inventing products, she has gained two patents on award winning make-up organizing products, which encompass “systems”, a longer lasting product on the market. In 2016, she launched Beauty & The Box, and marketed her first product, the genius “Traveler”, an organizer while traveling – the first of its kind. Her second product is an “at home” product and will revolutionize the beauty space.
A native Texan, Brock earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Southern Methodist University, and later, a Design Certificate from Parson’s School of Design in New York, where she migrated in 1989.
